day 35

"A world without tomatoes is like a string quartet without violins." ~Laurie Colwin-Home Cooking

I have an almost ripe tomato on my hanging tomato thing. Fresh tomatoes make me happy. I'm OK with a small crop...I'm the only one who eats tomatoes. I can't wait till this one is ripe enough to pick.

  1. Have you ever had yellow pear tomatoes? They're my favorite... absolutely favorite.

That tomato isn't ripe enough to pick? It would have long ago been picked in our garden. If we don't pick them when they just start to turn colors, then the bugs and other wildlife get to them first. So we have to let them ripen in the house after picking. Still, as home grown tomatoes, they're delicious.

  2. I'm not too worried about bugs and stuff, since it's in the hanging tomato thing, and I've only ever seen crawling bugs on tomato plants. It's still quite a bit orange, rather than red. I'll bet it will be ready tomorrow. I haven't tried the yellow pear tomatoes, I'll have to look for them.

  3. Oh, it's supposed to be a red tomato! I thought it was a yellow tomato. :P
I prefer yellow tomatoes over red, as does my mom, but that's our preference. And the yellow pear tomatoes are small and bite sized, so awesome for snacking. :)

  4. OO lovely! Is it an heirloom?-the foliage looks slightly different from our tomatoes over here.
I grow loads of different varieties-will have to photo some when they're ripe!

  5. I think it's just a regular cherry tomato...I love tomatoes, but no one else in the house does. My mom grows tons of tomato plants, during the summer there are loads of tomatoes...but my little plant is just ripening one at a time. It does for me.
